Story behind the art: For centuries man has been searching in vain for a Fountain of Youth. Juan Ponce de León thought it was in Florida, Herodotus believed it was in Ethiopia, and Alexander the Great searched for it in the Middle East. The Fountain of Youth is not an actual place but rather a state of mind. I have seen 80 year old children and 14 year old men. I repeat that age is a state of mine. However, there is a big difference between child-ish and child-like. To be childish is to be selfish, Childlike is to embrace our youth and enjoy life. To find that Fountain of Youth within ourselves we need to reconnect with those things and activities that make us feel youthful and happy. Unfortunately, this will not slow down the wrinkling process, the aching bones and muscles, or stop age spots…but true beauty is found from within. Each of us has within us a beautiful spirit that if allowed to shine forth would dazzle and blind. Our task is to tap into that Fountain of Youth and drink of its pure and refreshing waters.
